Dreams came true – Learned that family of hybrids could croos made me choose 2 from same family – the 1 is called Little Princess – and the other has the group name T. ophanidea flava ( flava means yellow ) – I plantet them in 2 ways – in tulip boxes and in mixed bulb boxes – Also i had one that i plantet in the soil last year – they turned out to act different as they where plantet – the boxes was like gravel and the 1 in the soil is my sand soil i have here. Also i place the 1 big box in shade to begin with to add to the breeding option as it would flower later – It succeded and when they began to make seed pods i took them inside, as i had a hare who ate them – you can se in the sites the progress – the seedheads i had to learn how to deal with them but could gues i had to cut them off as soon as the stems get yellow and then i layed them down on the box to dry more – then i could sense i had to put them in a drier place until they began to open – I can now se that i should had placed them more wide and in more light and help them crack open when – as 1/3 got moulded – i have seperated them and will try sow them – but as i know often they will not sprout – But i get a good seed crop and will sow them in bulb boxes near Winther.
Transplanting the seedlings
The seeds now ready to transplant can be grown in deep pots i use root trainers made for small trees, i transplant inside to give them some time in warmt to recover.

In this root trainer i plantet some seedlings 3 – 4 years old at the edge

Ziplock sprouting
The seeds you now take into a can with water..
Use some fungicide – I use grape Kernel oil.2 drops or liter water..
To prevent root..
The seed is now staying in this water 3 – 5 days..it will soak up the water..
The seeds rising to the top..are not mature seeds and has to be discharded..trowing away..
The seeds on the bottom are now ready to be sprouted…
Prepare moist Vermiculite ..or moss from the garden…take 1 zip lock bag..the ones made for a little lunch has the right size..
Write outside on the bag – the name of the seeds the amount of seed inside – and the date..put the moist Vermiculite..or moss inside the bag and a portion of the seeds..normally 10 – 12 seeds suit a bag – close the bag and put it in a container..near a heating ..it can be a radiator..or on a warm place ..where the temperature is between 8 – 25 degree Celsius – keep it there for 3 month..
In between look in the bag and check if the seeds has sprouted..
Normally the seeds will be sprouting in this period..if some get moulded remove them from the bag
3 month later..when the seeds has sprouted..move the bags to a cold place…it could be a refrigiator. In the section of the vegetables..in the back..
Keep the seeds here in 3 month..check in the bags regularly..for the next upward sprouting…

Tree peony seeds natural needs normally 2 years to mature..
1 – First year it needs cold winters and a shill by 6 month to sprout its first sprout…the down wards..root sprout
Then the seed rest and go dormant..until next spring..
2 – The following spring the seed makes the sprouting upwards..the stem..
This is called double sprouting routine..
But we have learned that it is possible to make the seed sprout both ways in 1 year…
So the fresh seeds harvesting is ready for this..
Collecting them and kept in a window sill shaded for 3 weeks..best in a paper envelope…

Hardy Tree Peonies..2
Thoosing the tree peonies P.delavayii lutea or P.rockii and crosses between theese 2 kind of tree peonies – And you will have tree peonies that survive and flower each year.. more and more – It will take 3 – 4 years from planted to be sure they flower
This is a seed plant ..a hybrid between P.delavayii lutea and P.delavayii -Red and yellow… I have given my seed plant the name : Golden Queen
She lives in my old garden and is now about 12 years old..
She is now 2 meters high and 2 meters wide and is still expanding each year.
Luckily she has a boy friend living in the same garden he is also a cross between the same parent.. made by a man called Hamilton its name is :
Circus Circus……he is 2,5 meter high but only 50 cm wide.
Hardy tree peonies
Coldhardy tree peonies.. Is tree peonies that can survive temperatures down to minus 20 degree celcius – some of the types called Paeonia delavayii lutea and Paeonia delavayii delavayii..Is this hardy
Also the most of the type Paeonia Rockii is hardy too..
